The Victory Day parade on 9 May will demonstrate the resoluteness and dedication of Belarusians to the cause of peace, Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus' National Assembly Vladimir Andreichenko said at the session of the House of Representatives on 5 May.

“The upcoming Victory Day parade in Minsk and official events that are set to take place all over the country will show our determination, unwavering position, and the devotion of Belarusians to the cause of peace,” Vladimir Andreichenko stressed.

The Great Victory changed the course of the world history, gave millions of people back their right to life and freedom, dignity, faith in fairness and justice. “Our nation paid too high a price for this right. This is why it is the moral duty of every Belarusian to preserve the memory of our ancestors' deed carefully,” the speaker said. He pointed out a special role of MPs that should take a very active stance in matters regarding the historical memory. “Especially in the time when we witness a spike in attempts to distort the history and downgrade the significance of the contribution of the Soviet Union peoples to the victory over fascism,” Vladimir Andreichenko noted.

“An information war that knows no boundaries is no less disruptive that an open military confrontation. It is a war for people's minds, lifestyle, and basic values that make us a united nation,” he added.
