Lazorkina: Belarus sees SCO and BRICS as instrumental in ensuring its overall security

By participating in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Belarus will be able to strengthen its security in a broad sense, Olga Lazorkina, Analyst with the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research (BISR) said in the latest episode of BelTA's YouTube project “After the Fact: Lukashenko’s Decisions".

"We are not talking about military and defense security only. We also mean economic security and electoral security. In other words, there are quite a lot of topics, and our opinion will already be reflected in key documents. This is what is important for us,” Olga Lazorkina noted.
As for BRICS, this "club" is focused on economy. "This is about financial sovereignty, financial independence. We have done a lot within the framework of the Union State. We have been working on de-dollarization, which is actively discussed in BRICS. Another topic is logistics. Both the SCO and BRICS have an interest this area," the BISR analyst noted.
Food security draws a considerable attention in these organizations, the expert stated. Belarus has something to offer in this area.
