Belarus and Russia’s Dagestan identified key directions to develop exchange trade during a meeting of the bilateral commission on cooperation coordination between Belarus and this region held in Makhachkala on 17 July, the press service of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) told BelTA.

Efforts will focus on attracting Dagestani business entities to participate on BUCE. Special attention will be given to expanding the range of goods involved in import-export exchange transactions and informing Dagestan’s business community about the potential of using exchange instruments for sales and procurement activities.

“The Republic of Dagestan is one of the leaders in terms of exchange transaction volume within the North Caucasus Federal District. In H1 2025, the exchange trade of Dagestani companies on BUCE has increased nearly sixteenfold year-on-year. The growth was driven by large-scale purchases of Belarusian butter, while Belarusian traders acquired raw materials for the textile industry from Dagestan,” Deputy Chairwoman of the BUCE Board Irina Narkevich said. She added that further development of mutual exchange trade will prioritize engaging small and medium-sized businesses from Dagestan. The list of traded goods will also be expanded to include new high-liquidity product categories.

In light of this, an agreement has been reached to establish partnership relations between BUCE and the Dagestan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI). The partnership aims to foster cooperation in areas such as information exchange, joint marketing campaigns, and the organization of seminars, webinars, roundtables, conferences, and other events focused on exchange trade. The agreement was signed by Irina Narkevich and Badrutin Magomedov, President of the Dagestan CCI.

The parties intend to promote exchange trade in Dagestan and support the diversification of the commodity structure in exchange transactions between Belarusian and Dagestani enterprises. Belarusian companies are prepared to supply Dagestan with a full range of dairy products, feed additives, meat products, and lumber. In turn, Dagestani producers will be able to use the exchange to export textile raw materials, fruit and vegetable products, nuts, and dried fruits to Belarus.
