Belarus, Russia agree to expand rail service

Additional high-speed Lastochka trains will be launched between Minsk and Moscow, the press service of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia told BelTA following a meeting between Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Aleksandr Rogozhnik and Head of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov on 17 July.

The parties discussed current issues of Belarus-Russia cooperation in railway transport, including the expansion of passenger and freight services, implementation of suburban transport solutions, modernization of port railway infrastructure, and the construction of a high-speed rail line along the Moscow-Minsk-Moscow route.

“An agreement has been reached to launch additional Lastochka trains between the capitals of Belarus and Russia,” the embassy reported.

The press service also noted that Ambassador Aleksandr Rogozhnik thanked Russian partners for organizing and participating in the cultural and educational project Train of Memory, which took place in cities across Belarus and Russia on 20 June-5 July.
