The Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia fulfills an important mission. It contributes to the effort to lay down a solid economic basis for the development of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, BelTA has learned.

"Today, the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia fulfills an important mission. It contributes to the effort to lay down a solid economic basis for the construction of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, to strengthen humanitarian ties and enrich common cultural traditions. As a result, it gives citizens of the two countries confidence in the future. We have already built a solid foundation of Belarusian-Russian cooperation, which is embodied in increased ties, numerous successful projects, and growing cooperation in all areas of life. As you know, the 10th edition of the Forum hit an absolute record: about 100 cooperation agreements were signed, contracts worth more than RUB110 billion were concluded," Natalya Kochanova said.

However, the main value of this platform is measured not only and not so much by financial indicators, the speaker emphasized. "The key impact is the development of direct ties between the administrative-territorial units of our countries, that convert into real socially useful projects. Much depends on local leaders, who need to interact with each other directly involving, if necessary, relevant ministries and departments. We are able to solve all the problems and we do it effectively, which brings our nations even closer together," Natalya Kochanova said.

"The importance of the system of caring for people, guaranteeing equality of their rights, pensions and social protection, healthcare and education that we have created thanks, among other things, to the forum, has yet to be appreciated. These are true friendly relations that we must preserve and pass on to next generations," Natalya Kochanova added.
