Corn harvest in Belarus reaches 74,000t

Belarus has harvested 73,700 tonnes of corn for grain, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 18 September, 7,465,800 tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, was cropped in the country. This included 6,208,300 tonnes of grain and leguminous crops and 992,600 tonnes of rapeseed.

Harvesting corn for grain is underway in Brest Oblast, Grodno Oblast, Minsk Oblast and Gomel Oblast, with 9.960 hectares of land already cleared, 73,700 tonnes of grain threshed and yields averaging 74 centners per hectare.

Some 8,886,800 tonnes of corn for silage were cropped so far.

In addition to that, 36,100 tonnes of buckwheat (yields are 14.8 centners per hectare) and 16,700 tonnes of millet (yields reach 19.1 centners per hectare) were threshed.

The flax straw harvest reached 100,900 tonnes.

Cereal and legume straws were harvested from 81.7% of the area.

Belarusian agricultural workers have harvested some 239,200 tonnes of potatoes. The yields average 351.6 centners per hectare.

Sugar beet harvesting is underway in Belarus. Some 655,100 tonnes of sugar beet were removed, with the yields reaching up to 451.8 centners per hectare.
