Belarus harvests over 1.4m tonnes of corn kernels

Over 1.4 million tonnes of corn kernels have been threshed in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 24 October, some 8,878,400 tonnes of grain crops and rapeseed were cropped in Belarus.

Harvesting of corn kernels is underway in all the regions of the country, with 177,400 hectares of land already cleared. Some 1,451,900 tonnes of corn kernels were threshed, with the yields averaging 81.8 centners per hectare.

Some 21,780,300 tonnes of corn for silage were cropped so far.

The country's farms are competing the harvest of potatoes. A total of 790,000 tonnes of potatoes have been cropped with the average yields of 350.5 centers per hectare.

Sugar beet harvesting is also in progress in Belarus. Some 3,146,800 tonnes of sugar beet were removed, with the yields standing at 465.4 centners per hectare.

Belarus has harvested a total of 130,900 tonnes of vegetables, with the yields averaging 282.2 centners per hectare.
