Belarus' grain harvest over 8.9m tonnes

Some 8.9 million tonnes of grain crops and rapeseed have been threshed in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 25 October, some 8,925,800 tonnes of grain crops and rapeseed were cropped in Belarus.

Harvesting of corn kernels is underway in all the regions of the country, with 182,700 hectares of land already cleared. Some 1,499,200 tonnes of corn kernels were threshed, with the yields averaging 82.1 centners per hectare. Some 21,900,600 tonnes of corn for silage were cropped so far.

The potato harvest season is nearing completion in the country. A total of 797,000 tonnes of potatoes have been cropped with the average yields of 350.8 centers per hectare.

Sugar beet harvest is also in progress in Belarus. Some 3,228,900 tonnes of sugar beet were removed, with the yields standing at 465.6 centners per hectare.

Belarus has harvested a total of 143,100 tonnes of vegetables, with the yields averaging 295.6 centners per hectare.
