Belarus' grain crop reaches 6.6m tonnes

Almost 6.6 million tonnes of grain crops, including rapeseed, have already been harvested in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 21 August, some 88% of area under grain crops and leguminous crops and some 88% of the designated area under rapeseed have been cleared in Belarus. A total of 6,596,000 tonnes of grain, including 5,663,000 tonnes of grain and leguminous crops and over 933,000 tonnes of rapeseed, have been threshed.

Flax was pulled from some 97% of the area under this crop. The flax straw harvest reached some 29,000 tonnes.

Cereal and legume straws were harvested from 53% of the area.

The soil is being prepared for the sowing of crops for next year. Winter rapeseed for grain has been sown on 85% of the area.

Belarusian agricultural workers have also got down to harvesting corn for silage. Some 195,000 tonnes have been cropped so far.
