Belarus' buckwheat harvest exceeds 40,000t

An estimated 40,200 tonnes of buckwheat has been threshed in Belarus so far, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 21 September, some 7,521,700 tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, was cropped in Belarus. This included 6,483,000 tonnes of grain and leguminous crops and 1,038,000 tonnes of rapeseed.

Harvesting of corn for grain is underway in all the oblasts of the country, with 16,000 hectares of land already cleared. Some 121,300 tonnes of grain was threshed, with the yields averaging 75.7 centners per hectare.

Some 10,401,400 tonnes of corn for silage were cropped so far.

In addition to that, 40,200 tonnes of buckwheat (yields are 14.7 centners per hectare) and 17,600 tonnes of millet (yields reach 19.1 centners per hectare) were threshed.

The flax straw harvest exceeded 106,700 tonnes.

Cereal and legume straws were harvested from 83.8% of the area.

Belarusian agricultural workers have harvested some 297,200 tonnes of potatoes. The yields average 350.6 centners per hectare.

Sugar beet harvesting is underway in Belarus. Some 831,200 tonnes of sugar beet were removed, with the yields reaching up to 448.6 centners per hectare.
