A growing number of defense programs in the Belarus-Russia Union State is a forced response to the challenges of the time, State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev said in an interview to a Russian radio on 30 October, BelTA has learned.

“The number of defense programs in the Union State has been increased. This is a forced and justified response to the challenges of the time. These are measures to improve the infrastructure of the grouping of troops and forces stationed in Belarus, measures to improve the rear infrastructure of this grouping. These are also measures to improve the level of security of the Union State borders,” Dmitry Mezentsev said.
“Russian President Vladimir Putin said this very clearly (I think the whole world heard it): God forbid something happens, we will protect the borders of Belarus the same way we will protect the borders of Russia. Because these are the borders of a single international association, the Union State. Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has repeatedly said that our Union State is from Brest to Vladivostok. This is our Fatherland,” the state secretary said.
