Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent greetings to participants and guests of the international forum “History for the Future: Russia and Belarus”, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“Our countries jointly defend their national identity and preserve the memory of their ancestors, despite blatant and undisguised attempts to foist alien ideals and values on us,” the message of greetings reads. “A thousand-year journey to statehood and the trials we experienced along the way have taught Belarusians and Russians to always remember historical lessons. We will never allow anyone to tell us what to do or to encroach on the unity and legacy of Slavic peoples,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said in his statement.

Exposing falsehoods, discovering the unknown, working through the controversial chapters of the common history, and conducting educational campaigns are the main tasks for the patriotic forces, as well as the scientific, cultural and media communities of the two countries, the president noted.

“I strongly believe that the forum will become an effective platform for international dialogue on the promotion of evidence-based historical truth in the public consciousness,” the Belarusian leader emphasized. He expressed gratitude to the organizers of this event and to everyone who preserves the purity and greatness of the history of the fraternal peoples for future generations.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished the forum participants fruitful work, many successes and meaningful scientific discussions.
