Cooperation between Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast and Belarus relies on a solid foundation, Governor of Kaliningrad Oblast Anton Alikhanov said during a meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 5 June, BelTA has learned.

The governor stressed that Belarus and the Belarusian regions are reliable partners of Kaliningrad Oblast. He spoke about the work of his delegation in Minsk and the prospects for developing contacts with Belarus.

Anton Alikhanov thanked the head of state for the opportunity to meet in person. "It is a great honor for me and our delegation of Kaliningrad Oblast. I would like to thank for the warm and friendly welcome on the Belarusian soil and the sincere hospitality traditionally extended to the Kaliningrad delegation. I am glad that we were able to resume bilateral visits after Covid. The last time we met was in 2019," the governor said.

"The cooperation of our region with the Republic of Belarus, with the Belarusian regions has a solid foundation," Anton Alikhanov said. “Our region is actively working with the regions of Grodno, Gomel, Vitebsk, Minsk and Brest. An agreement on cooperation with Mogilev Oblast will be concluded as part of the 18th meeting of the Russian-Belarusian Council today.”
