Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has arrived in the United Arab Emirates on a working visit, BelTA has learned.

A World Climate Summit will take place in Dubai within the next few days under the aegis of the United Nations Organization. A large number of top officials are expected to participate in the summit.

The president's press service previously said that during the summit Aleksandr Lukashenko will present Belarus' approaches and proposals on tackling global problems relating to climate security and ecological security. The head of state is expected to hold a number of meetings and negotiations on the sidelines of the summit.

The summit will take place nearly eight years after the Paris Agreement was signed and marks half of the way towards realizing the 2030 agenda.

According to UN reports, the world has yet to achieve goals of the Paris Agreement but there is hope that during the summit the world leaders will put together a roadmap to accelerate fight against climate change. Belarus' efforts in this area have been sketched out by Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Minister Andrei Khudyk in a recent interview with BelTA.
