Twelve men's and women's pairs representing Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan and Cuba took part in the international competition "Victory Cup" dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. The men's final was won by Cubans Noslen Diaz and Luis Alayo, who beat Russians Nikita Lyamin and Alexey Gusev from the Moscow club "Dynamo-Vodny Stadion" in the final.
On the day of the final matches, players, coaches, competition organizers, heads of the Belarusian Volleyball Federation and The Russian Volleyball Federation laid flowers at the stele "Minsk - Hero City".
"It's great that we have such good relations with Belarus, we have common holidays and memorable dates. This is important for our younger generation - we need to remember and know, honor the memory of our ancestors," said Dmitry Fedotov, head coach of the Russian women's beach team and Lokomotiv.

"The location in the city center is wonderful, the spectators had a lot of fun. I think the host only needed a snap of his fingers to make the audience explode with emotions," shared Dynamo-Vodny Stadion player Nikita Lyamin.
"Finally, we got here! Minsk is a wonderful city, Belarus is a wonderful country where wonderful and responsive people live, who also cheer for the fans. The organizers created and held a great world-class tournament," noted Tokyo Olympic medalist and world champion Vladislav Krasilnikov.
The women's tournament was won by Maria Egorova and Maria Lazurenko from Kaliningrad's Lokomotiv, who were stronger than Muscovites Nadezhda Makroguzova and Ekaterina Shevtsova in the final. For multiple Russian champion Makroguzova, the return to Belarus was special - in 2013, Nadezhda debuted on the international arena in Molodechno.
"This is our first time in Minsk - there are very kind people and wonderful fans here. Many thanks to them. It was nice to play in such a stadium and with such support. This is the first Victory Cup, and we are champions! We are incredibly happy to write history," said Egorova.
