Minsk hosting international swimming tournament

Minsk is hosting an international tournament for the prizes of the Belarusian Swimming Federation, BelTA has learned.

Taking part in the competitions are athletes from Belarus and Russia. The opening day features 11 medal events. Among the winners were Anastasiya Kuliashova and Hryhory Pekarski (50m backstroke), Anastasia Koryakovskaya and Ruslan Skamaroshka (100m freestyle), Viktoryia Shynkarova and Ivan Shamshuryn (200m butterfly), Alina Zmushka and Ilya Shymanovich (200m breaststroke). Ilya Shymanovich also won the men's 100m medley final, while the women's event was won by Veranika Shtrashnova. Alesya Ignatovich was victorious in the women's 800m freestyle.

Eleven more medal events are scheduled for Friday. The swimming tournament for the prizes of the Belarusian Swimming Federation is a rehearsal ahead of the second stage of the international competition Friendship Games, which are due to take place in Kazan, Russia in late November, and also ahead of the Belarusian Swimming Championships in December.
