The Belarus-Russia agenda is consistently intensive and substantial at all levels, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov said at a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov following their talks, BelTA has learned.

Maksim Ryzhenkov thanked the host country and personally Sergey Lavrov for the excellent organization of his first official visit to Russia. The visit took place in an atmosphere of absolute mutual understanding, strategic trust and allied solidarity.

The minister remarked: “It’s important for me to point out that the Belarusian delegation laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and this ceremony took place in the year when we mark the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. This is a profound symbol of historical unity, brotherhood and preservation of our legacy that have been at the heart of our relations for 80 years already. This is the reason why we keep supporting and helping each other up to this day.”

“During the two days of negotiations in a narrow and expanded format, we have discussed the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation, including the implementation of decisions within the Union State. We also analyzed the international agenda down to the smallest detail. Also today we have discussed the path towards peace in Ukraine, the possible involvement of the Republic of Belarus in the peace process, as well as prospects for a lasting and fair peace in Europe and the construction of a new security architecture in the pan-Eurasian space,” said the Belarusian foreign minister.

“We thank our Russian counterparts for prompt and comprehensive updates on their contacts with the Ukrainian side and the United States, with partners in the EU. We appreciate their willingness to hear us and take into account Minsk's views on today’s processes and to be considerate to our interests in this negotiation process. Such a respectful attitude is absolutely aligned with the high level and spirit of interaction within the Union State,” Maksim Ryzhenkov added.
