The exhibition of the St. Elisavetinsky Monastery opened at VDNH in Moscow

The St. Elisabethan Monastery, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, combines social and spiritual work in its ministry, following the example of the Martha and Mary Monastery, created by the patroness of the monastery, the Venerable Martyr Elizabeth. Today, the monastery consists of 118 monastic sisters, more than 300 sisters and brothers of mercy (this is the largest sisterhood in Belarus), 13 churches.

The monastery provides care for neuropsychiatric boarding schools and hospitals for adults and children. Not far from Minsk there are women's and men's farmsteads, where people with addictions, the homeless, those released from prison and all those who have nowhere to go can come. A social workshop "Dobrodel" has been created at the monastery for the rehabilitation of people with mental disorders. There is a social rehabilitation center that helps people start a new life and find their place in it: get rid of bad habits, get a job, learn a new profession.

There are more than 30 workshops of church art: icon painting, icon laying, restoration, gold embroidery, sewing, icon painting in the technique of stone placer, wall painting and mosaic, ceramic, stained glass and others. Both people with special needs and highly qualified specialists, professionals in their field (about 600 people in total) work here. A large exhibition presenting the social and missionary activities of the St. Elizabeth Monastery will be open in our pavilion (No. 18) at VDNH until September 10. Visitors will be shown a cultural and educational program, films about the history of the creation and development of the monastery, performances by the monastery's artistic choirs. Every day there are master classes and performances of the Batleika puppet theater. And the works of the monastery workshops can be purchased!
