The German specialist noted that lentils contain a lot of fiber, which helps to normalize the level of blood sugar. Fiber also improves the digestive process and prolongs the sense of fullness after eating. Moreover, lentils contain a large amount of vitamin B, as well as folic acid and iron.
The dietologist recommended to include beans in the diet in combination with whole grain bread, pasta and cereals. Lentils are also extremely important for vegetarians, as they contain protein that is necessary for the body, as well as vitamins and trace elements.
However, there are also contraindications. Lentils contain purine, which shouldn’t be consumed by patients with gout. When ingested, the substance is converted into uric acid, which leads to an exacerbation of the disease.
