Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Serbia Sergei Malinovsky opened the Autographs of Courage exhibition in the Russian science and culture center Russian House in Belgrade, BELTA has learned.

The exhibition is timed to the 80th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazi invaders and to Belarus Independence Day.

The exposition has been prepared by the National Library of Belarus and reflects the most important milestones in the heroic fight against the Nazi invaders and in the liberation of Belarusian land from the Nazi. It illustrates tragic pages of the genocide of the Belarusian nation during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

The exhibition features photos and archive data dedicated to the defense of the Brest Fortress, the offensive operation Bagration, the partisan movement in Belarus, and the tragedy of Khatyn. They are metaphorically intertwined with quotes and illustrations borrowed from works of Belarusian poets, writers, and artists, who have lived through the war.

In his speech, the ambassador emphasized Belarus’ unwavering commitment to preserving historical memory and truth about Great Patriotic War events.

Representatives of the Serbian general public and mass media, representatives of the diplomatic corps, the Russian House, students of the Philology Faculty of University of Belgrade, and representatives of Belarusian diaspora took part in the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
