Belarus strengthens international scientific and technical co-operation in the face of sanctions

Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus Tatiana Stolyarova told about the priorities of the committee in the field of international scientific and technical cooperation in the conditions of sanctions pressure. According to her, the committee coordinates the work of government agencies to deepen cooperation within the Union State, EAEU, CIS, as well as to intensify cooperation with the countries of the far arc, reports the correspondent of Soyuz.by.

In 2024, Belarusian scientists implemented more than 90 joint scientific and technical projects with partners from seven countries, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, India, China, Moldova, Serbia, China, Uzbekistan, and India. New competitions for joint projects have also been announced, while competitions with Turkey, India, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan are planned for 2025.

Stolyarova noted that these competitions are preceded by systematic dialogue with foreign partners and analysis of the peculiarities of the economies of the countries. 2024 also held meetings of intergovernmental commissions with a number of countries, including China, Serbia, Mongolia and regions of Russia.

‘Special attention is paid to cooperation within the framework of the Union State. A strategy for scientific and technological development of the Union State until 2035 has been approved, aimed at ensuring independence and competitiveness through intellectual potential. Since 2018, the Union State Prize in Science and Technology has been awarded, and a prize for young scientists was established in 2024. Implementation of scientific and technical programmes of the Union State plays an important role in the development of cooperation,’ the Speaker concluded.
