During the combat readiness inspection of the Armed Forces, particular attention is being paid to the integration of the experience of Russia’s special military operation into the training programs of the Belarusian Armed Forces, State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich told the media following his report to the head of state, BelTA has learned.

“We are focusing on how the experience of the special military operation has been incorporated into combat training, what forms and methods are being introduced. For example, forced marches are now carried out in small groups. How are combat operations conducted today? By small assault groups,” Aleksandr Volfovich said. “If earlier marches were carried out by companies or battalions, now on the battlefield movement is done in small groups.”

According to the state secretary, during control exercises in tactical training as part of the inspection, the ability of personnel to act in small groups, teams of three or five, is also taken into account. “In the course of control exercises we observe how commanders apply the experience that we have introduced and set out in the training programs of our Armed Forces,” he emphasized.

Aleksandr Volfovich noted that the Commander-in-Chief is also interested in how the experience of the special military operation is applied during the combat readiness inspection. The president places emphasis on the ability of personnel to fight in forested terrain. “Belarus has forested and swampy areas. In the unit under inspection, a training site has been set up to practice actions in forested and swampy terrain. Targets have been placed in the forest, shelters built, caponiers dug… Under these conditions, personnel perform live-fire exercises with real ammunition, not training rounds,” he added.

The inspection also tests the ability of servicemen to detect unmanned aerial vehicles and operate UAV detection equipment. “Close attention is also paid to how small arms can be used to inflict fire damage on quadcopters or other aerial vehicles. The ability of personnel to counter other modern means of attack is also being tested,” Aleksandr Volfovich summarized.

As BelTA previously reported, a large-scale inspection of the Armed Forces on the instructions of the head of state began on 16 January. Aleksandr Lukashenko is personally monitoring its progress. A new system has been implemented that allows the president to directly place military units on combat readiness, circumventing the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff. The main aim of these inspections is to gain an objective assessment. This is precisely why they are carried out without prior notice.
