CSTO examines prospects for cooperation with UN, SCO, CIS

The Collective Security Treaty Organization intends to develop cooperation with the UN, the SCO and the CIS, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik told the media after the meeting of the CSTO Ministerial Council in Minsk on 20 June BelTA has learned.

"At today's meeting, we paid considerable attention to the CSTO's foreign policy, its cooperation with other international organizations. We discussed the prospects for developing cooperation with organizations such as the UN, the SCO and the CIS," Sergei Aleinik said.

According to him, cooperation with the UN is primarily a topic of peacekeeping, taking into account the decisions taken by the CSTO to develop its peacekeeping capabilities. Cooperation with the CIS and the SCO is a wide range of avenues in terms of countering modern challenges and threats.

The minister recalled that at the Yerevan session of the Collective Security Council, the heads of state signed a decision to approve practical measures for the interaction of the CSTO with these organizations.
