Belarusian, Russian paratroopers finish active phase of tactical exercise

The active phase of a tactical exercise of the special operations forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus and Russia's Airborne Forces is over, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

A combined paratrooper unit practiced an offensive maneuver and the blocking of an illegally armed group in the exercise area Strugi Krasnyye. Belarusian paratroopers landed a tactical force covered by Ka-52 attack helicopters. NONA-S and NONA-M1 mortars, airborne combat vehicles, and T-72B3 tanks provided fire support to the combined paratrooper unit.

BelTA reported earlier that this year's first Belarusian-Russian tactical exercise of the Airborne Forces of Russia and the Special Operations Forces of Belarus' Armed Forces is taking place in Pskov Oblast, Russia on 18-21 February in the exercise areas Strugi Krasnyye and Zavelichye. More than 350 military personnel have been deployed for the exercise in addition to about 100 combat vehicles of the Pskov Guards Airborne Command and about 80 military personnel from the airborne unit of the Special Operations Forces of Belarus.
