Belarus-Russia Union State border security discussed in Grodno

Matters concerning the situation evolving at the external border of the Union State of Belarus and Russia were discussed at the 60th session of the board of the Border Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Grodno, BelTA has learned.

Participants of the session also discussed the development of a set of measures to adjust border security guidelines taking into account the existing threats and challenges to border security. State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Dmitry Mezentsev, Chairman of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee Vladimir Karanik, Aide to the President of the Republic of Belarus, Inspector for Grodno Oblast Yuri Karayev, Chairman of the State Border Committee of Belarus Konstantin Molostov, First Deputy Director, head of the Border Service of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) Vladimir Kulishov, members of the board of the Border Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, heads of branches and experts of the Belarusian border service and the Russian one took part in the session.

Representatives of the State Border Committee of Belarus clarified that the board of the Border Committee pays close attention to further improvement of the infrastructure of the state border and the technical solutions border service units use. Participants of the session reviewed progress in spending the funding allocated within the framework of the ongoing program designed to guide the development of border security of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in 2023-2027.

Resolutions of the Border Committee board on the items on the agenda were signed as a result of the session. Heads of the delegations noted that these decisions focus purely on practical matters. It will allow improving the level of interaction between the Belarusian border service and the Russian one as they stop violations at the external border of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. It will also allow more effectively using capabilities of the agencies in the course of accomplishing the tasks they have been assigned.
