Belarus, Russia hold consultations on key security issues

The Offices of the Security Councils of Belarus and Russia held consultations on key security issues in the context of the hybrid influence of the West against the two countries in Moscow on 21 September, BelTA has learned.

The consultations were chaired by Deputy State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Neverovsky and Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council Rashid Nurgaliyev.
State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich and Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev are set to hold a working meeting in the Russian capital on 21 September.
"Such events are held annually and cover the widest possible agenda in the field of security and are aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership between Belarus and Russia," the State Secretariat noted.
The parties discussed the key security issues of the Union State in the context of the hybrid influence of the West against Belarus and Russia. "The parties expressed concern about the evolving situation in the Eastern European region in terms of international and regional security. Views were exchanged on the development of the situation in Ukraine. The parties stressed the importance of maintaining intensive interaction in the context of the ongoing Ukrainian crisis, finding ways to resolve the conflict," the Secretary of State informed.
"Within the framework of the bilateral agenda, special attention was paid to cooperation in the field of biological security both between the Offices of the Security Councils and between agencies and departments," the State Secretariat noted. "It was emphasized that in 2020-2022, the parties achieved a high level of practical multifaceted and multi-level military and military-technical partnership and established close cooperation between law enforcement and security agencies in terms of countering modern challenges and threats."
"The parties reaffirmed their commitment to the policy towards further deepening cooperation in various areas of security and to the common approaches to solving issues of international and regional importance," the State Secretariat added.
