The National Library of Belarus is hosting a discussion platform on the draft National Security Concept today.
“Initially, working on the draft version of the National Security Concept, we talked not only about the risks, challenges and threats that have already been identified and which we have faced over the past decades. We also talked about the forecast development of the situation, and developed formulations of risks. When we moved to the gradation of risks, challenges and threats for each of the nine areas of national security, we also discussed the predicted threats towards our country and our people,” Aleksandr Rakhmanov said.
“Today, almost all major risks, challenges and threats have been taken into account,” the deputy state secretary emphasized. “We will finalize some organizational and practical measures aimed at countering new negative manifestations that in the future will arise as risks, challenges or threats for us.”
“More than 50 such discussion platforms have already been held under the auspices of the State Secretariat of the Security Council alone,” he said. “The heads of other government bodies of our country are also communicating with their personnel, with labor collectives on the subject of the draft concept.
There has already been certain feedback from the population. “We are receiving proposals concerning social, economic justice, corporate responsibility. We are saying that there are adjustments to the terminology used in the draft version of the National Security Concept, even concerning the concepts of risks, challenges and threats. People are worried about everything that happens abroad, including ‘reproaches' addressed by the foreign community to the Republic of Belarus. People are well aware of the huge number of attempts from abroad to turn upside down all the good things that are happening in our country. Thus, the National Security Concept will also comprise more substantive, systematic work of government agencies, including the implementation of the concept and bringing reliable and truthful information to the people,” Aleksandr Rakhmanov said.
