Alexei Russkikh said: “We've had three days of very intensive work. We came as a large delegation: members of the Ulyanovsk Oblast government and heads of the largest machine-building companies. By the way, we've brought along artists. The Young Spectator's Theater staged two plays in Minsk and Brest. A concert of our symphonic orchestra took place yesterday and received an amazing response. I am convinced it is only the beginning of such cultural exchange. As for the business agenda, we've signed about ten agreements between industrial enterprises of Ulyanovsk Oblast and the Republic of Belarus, between travel agencies. We've agreed on the exchange of school delegations. In the face of NATO's current pressure on our states we have to nurture true patriots. And such places like the Brest Fortress and the [WW2 memorial] Khatyn represent exactly the things that we should always remember. Remember the heroic feat of the Soviet soldiers, who persevered during the Great Patriotic War [of 1941-1945]. We have to pass it on from generation to generation.”
In his words, Belarus and Ulyanovsk Oblast have a big potential for stepping up cooperation. “There is no doubt that we have to do our utmost to make our industrial enterprises economically strong and to keep up with any technologies. As our manufacturing cooperation demonstrates, it is just like that. We are now actively advancing our manufacturing cooperation. Belarusian enterprises have unique technologies that Ulyanovsk Oblast enterprises need. At the same time we have the technologies that Belarusian enterprises need. We don't compete. We complement each other,” the governor stressed. “President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke highly of our work. We had a personal meeting with him. We've agreed that we will continue this work and will only put more efforts into it. And we will succeed.”
