Belarus' Ambassador to Russia Aleksandr Rogozhnik is on a working visit to Russia's Voronezh Oblast, where he has held talks with Voronezh Oblast Governor Alexander Gusev, BelTA learned from the press service of the diplomatic mission.

The parties reviewed progress to fulfill the tasks set at the June meeting of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko with the Voronezh Oblast governor, including the task to hit $1 billion in mutual trade.

The ambassador and the governor agreed to expand interaction in the manufacturing industry on top of successful cooperation in other areas, like construction and supplies of agricultural machinery.

“Aleksandr Rogozhnik suggested launching some unique and interesting project in the manufacturing industry in the region on a 50/50 basis. For example, localizing the production of Pozhsnab fire trucks and developing other superstructures on the MAZ chassis. It was agreed to study the issue promptly, taking into account the demand for these products from neighboring regions, using the instrument of offset contracts,” the press service said.

The parties also agreed to reinvigorate the joint working group on cooperation, which is co-chaired by Belarus' Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak.
