Belarus’ Novikova claims European weightlifting bronze

Polina Novikova of Belarus secured bronze in the Youth Women 77kg event at the 2025 European Youth & U15 Weightlifting Championships in Madrid, Spain, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian secured the small bronze medal in the clean & jerk with successful lifts of 102kg, 108kg, and 113kg. Her 86kg snatch performance combined for a 199kg total, placing her fourth overall in the combined standings - narrowly missing the podium to Poland's Dorota Gnoza.

Gold went to Russia's Sofia Vragova (211kg total), while Turkiye's Zeynep Pehlivan claimed silver (206kg).

Polina Novikova’s medal marks Belarus' seventh podium finish at the continental championship. Earlier successes include Daniil Zaiko’s U15 71kg gold and two silvers in individual lifts, and Mariya Ivanova’s U17, 77kg bronze, plus third in snatch and second in clean & jerk.
