A union insurance agreement is being introduced for car owners in Belarus and Russia

It was noted that in pursuance of the requirements of the head of state to eliminate the plurality of legal regulation, to ensure the simplicity of perception of legislation, instead of three decrees (No. 530 of August 25, 2006, No. 531 of August 25, 2006 and No. 302 of June 10, 2009), a single comprehensive document regulating issues related to compulsory insurance in Belarus has been prepared.

“The main innovation is a new type of compulsory civil liability insurance contract for vehicle owners - a union insurance contract, valid on the territory of Belarus and Russia. This will allow Belarusian car owners who have concluded such a contract not to purchase an additional international insurance contract when leaving for the Russian Federation. Taking into account the agreements with Russia, it will be concluded only in electronic form,” the Ministry of Finance reported.

The basic values ​​establish liability limits and the amounts of insurance premiums for compulsory civil liability insurance of vehicle owners. At the same time, the liability limits have been increased, and the current insurance premiums have been recalculated into base values ​​based on the euro exchange rate and the base value as of January 1, 2025.

The Decree approved the Regulation on Compulsory Insurance, which defines the procedure and conditions, including the amounts of insurance amounts (liability limits), insurance premiums and insurance rates. As well as the Regulation on funds for preventive (preventive) measures by types of compulsory insurance, which determine the amount of deductions to the funds and the procedure for transferring funds to the republican budget, as well as the managers of funds, the procedure and directions for their use. New types of compulsory insurance are not introduced.

The Decree, with the exception of its individual provisions, will enter into force one month after its official publication.
