The government and regional administrations have more people of a younger generation, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he made new appointments, BelTA has learned.

“We have many fresh faces in the government. Some say that the system has become rigid. Nothing of the kind. We have almost completely rejuvenated the country's government, regional and district authorities by bringing in new blood. You are a new generation, you will pick up the baton in the future and continue developing Belarus implementing the ideas we discussed at the Belarusian People's Congress,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

That landmark event was not just a formality, the head of state noted. The decisions taken during the congress are a reference point for government officials of all levels, the president stressed. “This is what we should work towards. There is a lot of work ahead of us,” he added.

BelTA reported earlier that on 12 March Aleksandr Lukashenko made new appointments in law enforcement agencies, government bodies, local government and state higher education institutions.
