Photo fact: Belarus Celebrates Police Day

18:00, 4 March

On March 4, Belarus celebrates Police Day. One of the important and traditional events today is the ceremony of laying wreaths at the monument to fallen police officers. To confirm the continuity of generations, Academy cadets, students of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Lyceum, and students of military-patriotic clubs are present alongside their senior comrades.

It has become a good tradition to lay flowers on professional holidays. Colleagues remember those who fulfilled their duty to the end. Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov, management, police officers, and relatives of the deceased police officers laid wreaths and flowers at the monument.

Ivan Kubrakov noted that all the festive events on the Police Day begin with this sacred place for every employee. "We also held a number of events before that. First of all, I met as the Minister of Internal Affairs with the families of employees of the internal affairs bodies who died in the line of duty. I would like to emphasize that such events are held on a regular basis. They took place throughout the country, but this does not mean that we only meet on the eve of our professional holiday. We use the example of employees of the internal affairs bodies who died in the line of duty to educate our young people. It is here, at the monument to those who died in the line of duty, that we present the first identification card and service weapon to young officers. We show that an officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and an officer of the Internal Troops must be ready to sacrifice themselves. If it is necessary to sacrifice their lives to save others and protect our country, then our officers are ready to do so," he emphasized.

Ivan Kubrakov drew attention to the fact that the daughters and sons of employees who died in the line of duty often follow in their footsteps and choose to work in the police force. "It is a great honor that our young people are willing to defend their homeland. Today, we will hold a series of events at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. We will gather at the Palace of the Republic to present well-deserved awards to our internal affairs officers, as well as to recognize our students from patriotic clubs. The awards will be given to citizens who have helped to maintain public order and apprehend armed criminals, the minister emphasized. "I would like to point out that the law-abiding behavior of our citizens serves as an example for people who come to our country as tourists and guests. Everyone appreciates the safety on our streets."

In 2027, the Belarusian police will celebrate its 110th anniversary. "Today, at the Palace of the Republic, we will launch the ideological marathon '110 Years in Unity!'. This event will take place throughout the country. Throughout the year, we will visit not only regional centers but also smaller towns. There, we will hold ideological and sports events. All of these events will be aimed at ensuring the safety of our citizens. We will also visit the burial sites of our officers who died in the line of duty. Additionally, we will explore the iconic landmarks of Belarus. In addition, as part of the marathon, we will begin filming a multi-part feature film dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Belarusian police. It will be entirely about Belarusian police officers, including police dynasties, who have ensured order in our country, sometimes at the cost of their own lives. This will be a film about our police officers and our veterans," Ivan Kubrakov shared.
