Russia’s Sakhalin Oblast to buy Belarusian municipal vehicles, test BelAZ electric trucks

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Aleksandr Rogozhnik held negotiations with Governor of Russia’s Sakhalin Oblast Valery Limarenko on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in the city of Vladivostok, the press service of the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

According to the source, a large batch of Belarusian buses (100 vehicles powered by gas engine fuel) was shipped to Sakhalin Oblast in 2023. The region is quite pleased with their operation. Both parties are interested in continuing cooperation in buying Belarusian vehicles. There is interest in buying Belarusian municipal vehicles now.


Sakhalin Oblast is one of Russia’s top regions with lots of mineral resources. The region actively buys BelAZ haul trucks. There are plans to arrange field trials of BelAZ electric vehicles at the local mining enterprises. Trucks powered by hydrogen fuel can be tested in the distant future.


The conversation held during the meeting also touched upon the Sakhalin Oblast governor’s forthcoming visit to Belarus in autumn. The parties discussed filling the programs with concrete facilities and prospects of working out joint projects, the press service of the Belarusian embassy added.
