“We are now working on a Russia-Belarus port project. I think the People’s Republic of China would be eager to join this project as a partner,” said the governor. He emphasized the particular relevance of this project in light of the development of the Northern Sea Route.

According to the governor, the work to choose an suitable location is underway. “We have discussed it in advance [with the Belarusian side]. I think that we will make up our mind on the location of the port this year. This site should be convenient, deep enough and have certain infrastructure,” explained Oleg Kozhemyako.

A reminder, Belarus needs a port in Primorye Territory to ship its products to China. A team of specialists from Belarus who have experience in implementing port projects visited Primorye Territory at the beginning of 2024.
