Foreign investments in Belarus at $2.8bn in Q1 2020

Foreign investors injected $2.8 billion into the real sector of Belarusian economy (apart from banks) in January-March 2020, National Statistics Committee reported.

Among the main investors in Belarus were economic entities of Russia (35.7% of the total), Cyprus (15%), and Austria (8.4%).
Foreign direct investments (FDI) made up $2.1 billion, or 75.1% of the total foreign investments.
In Q1 2020, Belarusian organizations (apart from banks) invested a total of $1.5 billion abroad. Belarus mainly invested in the economic entities of Russia (81.4% of the total), Ukraine (6.1%), the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (5.2%). FDI accounted for 95.6% of all the investments that went abroad.
