Belarus and Russia have reconciled food trade supply and demand projections for 2020, BelTA learned from Aleksei Bogdanov, Head of the Central Office for Foreign Economic Activities of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

The official said: “The balance sheets have been reconciled and will be signed in a routine manner soon.”

In his words, Belarus' export in 2020 is expected to drop slightly in comparison with this year's target and grow in comparison with this year's estimates. “We didn't hit the projected food trade figures this year because we faced restrictions of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia (Rosselkhoznadzor) on the export of meat and dairy products and vegetables,” the official explained.

In January-October 2019 Belarus exported $3.5 billion worth of agricultural products and food to Russia, 3.4% up from January-October 2018. In particular, Belarus supplied meat and dairy products to the tune of $2.2 billion to Russia.
