Commenting on the exhibition opened in Minsk today, the State Secretary of the Union State noted the slogan of one of the publishing houses: "Russia and Belarus Reading Together”.
“It is a good slogan. It can be relevant not only to today, to this book exhibition. Books have always united. People who are involved in book production, who are publishing child, adult, historical literature, have the least tensions. This is an area of activity where people are drawn to each other,” said Grigory Rapota.
According to him, the publishing activity of the Union State Standing Committee is also focused on uniting peoples. In the space of a few years, the Union State Standing Committee has contributed to several publications devoted to important historical events, as well as to the outstanding people of Belarus and Russia.
It should be noted that the first day of the exhibition was marked by a presentation of publishing projects prepared jointly with the Standing Committee of the Union State. Among them were the books “Springs of Memory” and “Heroes of the Partisan Land”. A new project was announced as well: it will be a book devoted to the events near Rzhev during the Great Patriotic War. The issue of the book is scheduled for 2020.
We would remind you that the XXVII Minsk International Book Fair was opened in Minsk on February 5th. Russia is an honored guest of the book forum. The programme includes over 500 events held not only in Minsk, but also all over the country in bookstores, libraries, museums, universities and schools. The forum is to continue till February 9th.
