Integration in the Union State is unique, this experience is applied in other integration associations, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said as he took the questions from Russian senators in the Federation Council, BelTA learned

Alexey Overchuk noted that the Russian side pays special attention to the Union State. “Because the Union State is a platform where together with our Belarusian brothers, friends and colleagues we develop joint solutions, which we then try to scale up in other integration associations, including the Eurasian Economic Union,” he said.

“No other integration association has such close integration ties, which we have under the Union State Treaty of 1999. Not so long ago Aleksandr Lukashenko stood behind this rostrum [the Belarusian president delivered a speech in the Federation Council during his official visit to the Russian Federation on 14 March] and detailed our journey to implement the Union State Treaty. It was a very difficult path,” Alexey Overchuk recalled.

He said that within the framework of the 28 Union State programs, the parties have developed 221 normative legal acts. “Today, 202 have already been adopted, 19 are still in the works. But this means we solved the issues,” Alexey Overchuk noted.

“Today we continue this work. The Union State Supreme State Council decided to go even further in implementing the new articles of the Union State Treaty. This is a unique work. We will strive to maximize this experience and scale it up in all other integration associations. But Belarus is our closest nation. There is no one closer,” Alexey Overchuk added.
