Speaking to the participants of the meeting, Alexey Kazakov emphasized that the formation of a common cultural space between Belarus and Russia is one of the most important elements of integration in all directions.

“In the context of unprecedented attempts to rewrite history, belittle the feat of the Soviet people and agitation of Nazism, we are obliged to consolidate efforts to protect historical truth. In this regard, the Permanent Committee of the Union State, together with interested Russian and Belarusian ministries and departments, is working to establish the Union State Prize “For Contribution to the Preservation of Historical Memory,” said Alexey Kazakov. – The Standing Committee has prepared a draft resolution of the Supreme State Council on the establishment of the Union State Prize for contribution to the preservation of historical memory. The Deputy Secretary of State of the SG is convinced that the establishment of this award will be a significant step in protecting historical truth, as well as a sign of recognition of the merits of citizens, representatives of the scientific and cultural community who have contributed to the preservation of the common memory of the two peoples.

According to Alexey Kazakov, the issue of information support for cultural integration, in which significant progress has already been achieved, should become one of the priorities in the work of the ministries and departments of the two countries. The Deputy Secretary of State drew attention to the fact that many significant events and projects in the field of cultural exchange often remain insufficiently covered in the information space of the Union State. Concluding his speech, he called for increased attention to be paid to this area.
