Today, the III Forum of the Union State "Russia and Belarus: Common History, Common Destiny" opened at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Sergey Glazyev, State Secretary of the Union State, sent a welcoming message to the participants, organizers, and guests of the event. Anatoly Markevich, Head of the Representation of the Permanent Committee of the Union State in Minsk, read the welcoming address, according to a Soyuz.by correspondent.

"Belarus and Russia are two countries united by the Treaty on the Union State, which are currently building economic integration in a new way, preserving their independence and sovereignty, and, most importantly, resolving many issues in a coordinated and consolidated manner," the State Secretary of the Union State said in his welcoming speech.

Sergey Glazyev emphasized that the Union State is currently paying great attention to shaping public awareness of the importance of Belarusian-Russian cooperation, developing cultural ties, and preserving the memory of shared historical events.

"By bringing together Belarusian and Russian historians, representatives of scientific organizations, archival institutions, and higher education institutions whose mission is to protect historical truth, the Forum once again provides a unique opportunity for constructive dialogue and further educational cooperation," emphasized the State Secretary of the Union State, wishing the participants of the dialogue platform fruitful work and new achievements.

During the plenary session and five thematic sections, the participants of the III Forum of the Union State "Russia and Belarus: Shared History, Shared Destiny" will discuss a wide range of issues related to Russian-Belarusian cooperation. These include: issues related to preserving historical memory and countering historical falsification; the history of World War II and the Great Patriotic War; historical education and enlightenment; the study of shared archaeological heritage; the current state and prospects for cooperation in the museum field, and more.
