Belarus and Tatarstan intend to make more active use of the exchange trading mechanism to carry out mutual deliveries of agricultural products. The matter was discussed during a visit of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Food of Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov to the central office of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), the BUCE press service told BelTA.

This will create additional opportunities for realizing export potential and will contribute to strengthening business ties between Belarusian and Tatarstan agribusiness enterprises. In the opinion of the deputy head of the Tatarstan Government, the exchange platform can become an effective tool for interaction between agricultural producers and consumers in Belarus and Tatarstan, creating favorable conditions for trade growth and helping to form long-term trade relations.

“We are interested in deepening cooperation with Belarus in the exchange sector and are ready to assist in informing Tatarstan businesses about the opportunities of the Belarusian exchange platform. Judging by the volume of deals concluded last year, exchange trading is a sought-after tool for Tatarstan’s agricultural enterprises, which means this direction of interaction needs to be developed and scaled up,” Marat Zyabbarov said.

According to BUCE data, in 2025 companies from Tatarstan purchased agricultural products through exchange trading for $44 million. Skimmed and whole dry milk accounted for 84% of the total. According to the agreements reached with the head of the Tatarstan delegation, further growth in exchange trade is planned to be ensured not only through deliveries of Belarusian goods to Tatarstan but also by selling oilseed meal, sunflower oil, and grains to Belarus.

“The exchange mechanism is equally capable of solving both the procurement and sales tasks of agribusiness enterprises. For Tatarstan exporters, the exchange will serve as a convenient entry point to the Belarusian market, allowing them to work with the largest buyers of fat-and-oil products without intermediaries,” Natalya Kishkel, Deputy Chairperson of the BUCE Board emphasized while explaining the possible applications of exchange trading.

In 2025, 19 new business entities from Tatarstan began using BUCE services, and currently, 60 representatives from this Russian region are accredited on the exchange. Dry milk and whey, butter, rennet cheeses and cottage cheese, as well as meat and meat semi-finished products were supplied from Belarus to Tatarstan. In turn, Belarusian companies purchased polyethylene film and components for industrial equipment in Tatarstan.

Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
