Belarus and Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan aim to ensure more balanced exchange trade in 2026, maximizing benefits for both parties, German Puzyrny, Deputy Head of the Foreign Economic Activity Department at the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), said during a meeting with a business delegation from Tatarstan in Minsk, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.

“The exchange is a highly flexible mechanism that can efficiently handle both export and import operations at the country and regional levels. Therefore, in developing exchange trade with Tatarstan, we are striving for parity between imports and exports. This will ensure that producers from both sides have every opportunity to reach their full potential,” the BUCE representative emphasized.

At the same time, according to German Puzyrny, in January-April 2026, the entire exchange trade between Belarus and Tatarstan consisted entirely of Belarusian products. “During this period, exchange traders from Tatarstan actively purchased Belarusian milk powder, butter, and rennet cheese, while no sales of Tatarstan products were recorded. In other words, Tatarstan acted as a net importer in January-April,” the BUCE official concluded.

Consequently, through the end of 2026, efforts will focus primarily on organizing imports of goods produced by Tatarstan’s industrial and agricultural enterprises through the exchange platform. This will help drive trade growth and expand the range of products traded between the two sides. Oilseed meals, oilseeds, polymers, and rubber are among the promising items being considered for import into Belarus.

As of 26 May 2026, 65 business entities from Tatarstan were accredited with BUCE. Furthermore, the republic ranks first among all regions of Russia’s Volga Federal District in terms of the value of exchange transactions concluded on the Belarusian platform in January-April 2026.

Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
