Belarus and Russia’s Primorye Territory have outlined key areas for further cooperation during a meeting between Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Shuleiko and Governor of Russia’s Primorye Territory Oleg Kozhemyako, BelTA has learned.

The talks centered on key aspects of trade and economic cooperation, the dynamics of bilateral trade, and prospects for future engagement.

Yuri Shuleiko noted the dynamic development of bilateral relations between Belarus and Primorye Territory. Goals and objectives have been set to boost trade and economic cooperation. He added that exceptionally successful results were achieved in 2024. “Trade and economic interaction are gaining momentum once again. We share mutual interest and understanding. Primorye Territory sets an excellent example of how to build a strong friendship with Belarus and find mutual benefits. You also help us in many ways,” he said.

The Belarusian deputy prime minister identified mechanical engineering, alongside the supply of agricultural equipment, utility vehicles, and buses, among the promising areas of engagement with Primorye Territory. There is also strong interest in Belarusian mining and road-construction machinery, as well as elevator equipment. Consideration is given to humanitarian and cultural affairs, healthcare, and education. Yuri Shuleiko described agriculture as a model of successful cooperation. Future plans involve expanding agro-industrial partnership and boosting bilateral supplies of food products and agricultural raw materials.

“Today, we have a clear, well-structured framework for our economic ties,” Yuri Shuleiko added.

Oleg Kozhemyako emphasized that the plans include expanding trade with Belarus, as well as cultural and sporting engagement. According to him, Belarusian products are popular and in high demand in Primorye Territory. “Trade in Q1 2026 grew significantly in terms of both imports and exports,” he noted.

On 2 June, the delegation from Russia’s Primorye Territory will visit the Belagro exhibition to view Belarusian agricultural machinery and products. The itinerary also includes a meeting at the Belarusian State Technological University with students from Primorye Territory, followed by the next meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Primorye Territory.
