Belarus, Russia finalize terms for oil refining sector

Belarus and Russia have finalized the terms for the functioning of the oil refining sector for the medium term, Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin told the media following his report to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 15 October, BelTA has learned.

According to Aleksandr Turchin, one of the main issues discussed with the head of state concerned Belarus's oil refining industry. “Just today, we have completed a challenging six-month effort with our Russian partners to establish the terms for this sector's operation in the medium term. The terms are mutually beneficial and will enable our oil refineries to operate efficiently,” he said.
The prime minister emphasized that the measures already implemented by the government during this period have yielded significant economic benefits for domestic enterprises, with the effect “amounting to several hundred million dollars”.
Aleksandr Turchin noted that the sector's performance was also considered in the context of the oil products market situation in neighboring countries. “I reported to the president that the situation in our domestic market regarding the supply of oil products is stable and that there simply cannot be any disruptions,” he said.
