Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko is pay a working visit to Mogilev Oblast, BelTA has learned.

In Kostyukovichi District, the head of state is set to get familiar with the progress of spring fieldwork in the region, social and economic development of the region and the district.

The traditional Chernobyl-themed trip is an annual event in the schedule of the president and his media pool. A lot of attention is paid to these regions. Today the first item on the agenda of the visit is to take stock of the progress made in the spring fieldwork, the availability and condition of farming machinery. The topic, of course, is not the only one for today’s discussion,” the Pul Pervogo Telegram channel informed.

The head of state has recently touched upon the situation in the south-east of Mogilev Oblast and Kostyukovichi District in particular. Approving the appointment of heads of local executive and administrative bodies on 22 April, Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled his long-standing instructions: “Kostyukovichi and other districts are part of my plan to promote the east of Mogilev Oblast, which was also affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. It is desirable to make Kostyukovichi an example to follow,” the head of state noted.

In 2015, a decree and a corresponding program were adopted to enhance the socioal and economic development of the south-eastern districts of Mogilev Oblast. They were aimed at creating favorable living conditions for the population. In 2019, the head of state held a meeting in Kostyukovichi to discuss the effectiveness of these decisions and objectively assess the interim results. It was decided to extend the main provisions of the existing decree until 2025, and in 2020 Aleksandr Lukashenko signed the decree “On measures to develop the southeastern part of Mogilev Oblast”.

The southeastern part of Mogilev Oblast, in addition to Kostyukovichi District, includes Klimovichi, Krasnopolye, Krichev, Slavgorod, Cherikov and Khotimsk districts.
