Lukashenko to review forestry machinery production in Belarus

On 25 September, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko will make a working trip to Logoisk District, Minsk Oblast, where he will visit the Amkodor Lesmash forestry machinery manufacturer, BelTA has learned.

The head of state will hear a report on the production of forestry machinery to fully meet the country’s needs, as well as on the development of the Amkodor holding company and logging operations.
Aleksandr Lukashenko will review the production process and the samples of manufactured machinery. The head of state will also be given a live demonstration of a machinery complex in action, featuring a domestic harvester and forwarder.
The Amkodor holding company’s products currently cover the core needs of the timber industry, ensuring the technological sovereignty of the sector. The product range is complemented by machinery from MTZ holding company, which combined makes it possible to fully supply the country with domestically produced vehicles.
Based on the priorities of Belarus’ social and economic development program for 2026–2030, a development strategy for the Amkodor holding company has been formed, which includes the advancement of forestry machinery. One of the key goals of the strategy is to master the production of a rational range of machinery and equipment for forestry that meets modern requirements and technologies.
Currently, the Amkodor timber machinery lineup covers key operations, from logging to forwarding, and includes four harvesters and four forwarders. In addition, a universal modular forestry harvester with a 4x4 wheel arrangement is currently being developed, which will perform both final felling and thinning operations.
Key components and assemblies are manufactured by the holding company’s enterprises, ensuring technological independence from foreign manufacturers and a rational level of localization.
Thus, Amkodor has established a full range of machinery models that covers all primary technological operations of the logging cycle. The lineup primarily includes medium and heavy-duty vehicles, closely aligned with the current needs of the timber industry. The light harvester segment for thinning management, where the demand volume is insignificant, is left to the MTZ holding company to prevent any production overlap between the nation’s manufacturers.
To perform a complex of tasks for young stand management (cleaning and thinning), Amkodor has mastered the production of small-sized machinery that was previously purchased abroad.
Currently, the production capacities of the Amkodor holding company allow for the manufacturing of 140–150 units of forestry equipment annually, including 120 units produced by Amkodor Lesmash. Future plans include developing in-house competencies, expanding the product range, and fully commissioning all production facilities to bring the annual output to 250 vehicles.
