"I am glad to see you," the head of state said, welcoming the American guest.
"So am I," John Cole replied.
"John, I congratulate you on your new appointment (as the US special Envoy to Belarus. - Approx. BELTA). You're in charge of Belarus right now. Tell Trump that we have to do something about this. And we will do it," Alexander Lukashenko said at the meeting.
He also gave a positive assessment of the actions of his American counterpart, the President of the United States: "They say that Trump likes flattery. But I'm not here for flattery. I want to say that I've been very impressed by his actions lately."
"We have a lot of questions. The world is changing very quickly, and there are new issues that we need to discuss. And perhaps even resolve," the President added, setting the stage for the main conversation.
