Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated workers and veterans of the metallurgical industry on their professional holiday - Metallurgist's Day, BelTA has learned.

The head of state emphasized that the metallurgical industry plays one of the key roles in the domestic economy: it serves as a solid foundation for the industrial complex and ensures smooth operation of almost all sectors of the domestic economy.

Almost 20,000 people chose a career in this industry that requires extreme responsibility, profound knowledge and special, ‘fiery' skills, the president noted.

“At the moment, metallurgists are going through a difficult stage, and they are responding to external challenges with dignity. They are doing everything to ensure that their products are in demand both domestically and abroad. As a result, this year steel production increased by a quarter, and exports rose by a third,” the message reads. “I am convinced that you will keep working with full dedication for the sake of the prosperity of our Belarus.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished all the industry workers and veterans good health, inexhaustible energy, happiness, peace and prosperity.
