The diameter of the Sun visible from the Earth will be maximum in 2022 on January 4, due to the fact that the Earth will be at the closest distance from this star. This was reported by TASS in the press service of the Moscow planetarium.

On January 4, 2022, the Earth will reach its perihelion, the point in its orbit where it is closest to the Sun.

The Earth completes its revolution around the Sun in 365 days 6 hours 9 minutes 10 seconds. The closest point to the Sun in the Earth's orbit is called perihelion, it is located more than 147 million km from it. The most distant point, aphelion, Earth passes in early July, finding itself at a distance from the Sun exceeding 152 million km.

The perihelion of 2022 will take place at 06.52 UTC on January 4. And the aphelion will occur on July 4.
